Platitudes Exclude Feeling" is a descriptive work composed in December that examines the intersection of human interaction, social performance, and internal psychological states.
Platitudes Exclude Feeling
I hear them say they understand,
I do not hear their sorrow.
I hear them hide a pain from
panes of eyes well lidded,
curtained rooms of remorse.
Pale wisps list pasts reminisced
left aside shadows,
cast dull flat silhouettes,
Frozen and dark in silent scorn.
Porns of men cascade past shopping
windows full of hope,
for reflections in procession
parade in nondescript gowns.
Competing to be more bland
than the other,
as wearers stand empty
as the glasses they wish
sipped from.
Tall and elongated
exaggeration, distorted
as their inner visions.
Rend compassion brutally
from the bosom that bears
no more, the tear that streaks
in oily slurry staining pale dry
skin scarring outer surfaces.
Like blots upon a napkin dabbed at
corners of cold mouths, painted
warmth that melts away.
An inner city minded people
hide their inner fears in cruel acts.
The steadfast stand on winds
of sand that cut the eyes and shred
those inner visions of reflections
cruelly scattered across mired
other people's shades and tone and
attitude.
Precluded inclusions by default
prevent dry eyes from blooming.
As dust bowls form from long
redundant miseries,
a heart resolved to
keeping secrets crumbles.
The tower’s overshadow
tragedies untended, like
gardens of bloom
that none pursue or care to recall.
The pall not hoisted for the spites
unclaimed record an ending.
This work functions as a clinical observation of self-concealment and the eventual collapse of suppressed emotional data, concluding with the recording of an ending where "spites" remain unclaimed.
